AstraView

What to observe tonight. Personalized astronomy recommendations for your location, equipment, and sky conditions.

Personalized astronomy recommendations based on your location, equipment, and tonight's sky conditions. AstraView tells you exactly what's worth observing tonight.

The difference? Other apps assume a perfect 360-degree view. AstraView accounts for your actual horizon—the trees, buildings, and terrain that block your view—so you only see objects you can actually observe.

Your Horizon Matters

Other apps assume a flat horizon at 0 degrees. AstraView accounts for the trees, buildings, and terrain that actually block your view. Trace your real horizon using AR, draw it manually, or use presets—and save multiple profiles for different observing spots.

Interactive Sky Map

A full-screen, zoomable star chart that shows exactly where everything is. Scrub through time to plan your session, switch to AR mode, and see your horizon overlay so you know what's blocked before you set up.

Why I Built This

From my backyard I can see north, south, and overhead—but trees and my house block everything to the east and west. My driveway opens up the eastern sky but loses the south. Every app I tried ignored this reality and showed me objects I could never actually see.

So I built AstraView. Set up a horizon profile for each spot, and the app tells you what's visible from where you're actually standing. My backyard profile and my driveway profile give me different recommendations for the same night—because they should.
